In 2022, after fifteen years of living abroad, I returned to Northern Italy, to the Trebbia Valley. What began as a simple homecoming unfolded into something unexpected. I found myself drawn back to the riverbanks and swimming holes I once explored with friends, now weathered by time and threatened by concrete, but still pulsing with the same quiet mystery I experienced as a child.
These places became my refuge. Photographing them was not only an act of memory but of resistance, a way to flee from time itself. Each image reopens a passage to a slower world, one that lingers on the margins of progress, where beauty endures quietly, like something not yet ready to disappear.
The project follows the urgency to collect a testimony of this primordial reality: a corner of the Apennines that escapes history, resisting the collapse of modernity and the slow destruction of the wild world.
It is a journey into untouched wonder, a memory crystallized in time: an Italian summer whose contours I can no longer discern as real or dreamed. And yet, quietly true—to our land, our stories, and the collective memory we share.
Costumi Postumi is an ode to our churches, to the sanctuaries that once shaped us. Places of peace and contemplation, of rush and freedom, where the boundary between Men and Nature often blurs, and the mystery of the world is still accessible.

"COSTUMI POSTUMI" BOOK
The last step of this project will be a photo book. If you want to contribute to its creation, you can purchase the Costumi-zine or the Fine Art prints that I prepared in collaboration with Fotofabbrica. Shop
